The Gang is All Here

Progress continues on the homes.  Internal walls have been built with some electrical and sheet rock completed.  We have worked with the City to finalize addresses for each of the homes, and have ordered the equipment necessary for the remote technology to work during the overnight hours.

The big news is that all six homes have been filled with someone from LifeQuest.  In addition, all staff positions at the homes have been filled as well.  Many of the staff came from the same group homes the people supported will be moving away from to start a new life at the Microhome Village, so we hope the transition will be better for everyone involved.

A couple of weeks back, those staff and the people supported who will live in the homes got together at 401 Create to stuff Easter eggs and other activities to get to know each other better.  Everyone seemed to have a great time, with a lot of the conversations revolving around everyone’s new home they will be moving into soon!

Over the next few weeks, we will introduce you to the rest of the people slated to live in the homes, and maybe a bit about the staff who will work with them every day.  It’s a great group of people who will bring their own ideas, favorite hobbies and personalities.  We couldn’t be happier with how this part of the “building process” has turned out. 

Above all, we want their new home to be safe and enjoyable, so being able to match staff with the people who will live in the homes this early in the process will make Moving Day and beyond go much more smoothly.

We’re so thankful for your generosity and sharing your excitement with us about this new venture.  It continues to be recognized across the state as innovative and creative.  We’re proud that we continue to work hard and innovate for people with disabilities, and we couldn’t have done this and many of our other innovations without you all.  We are still on track for move-in day happening in mid to late July!
