Brad's Story

Originally from Lemmon, Brad has called many places across South Dakota home. Over the years, he has received services from multiple providers throughout the state, including time at the Developmental Center in Redfield. For Brad, living in large congregate settings with others became something that was ingrained in him for many years. But Brad always dreamed of something more of his own.

     “I can’t wait to have my own house and be able to schedule my own day,” he said.

     Brad became part of the Life Quest family eight years ago, and it wasn’t long before his dream of having a home of his own became a dream shared by Life Quest: to build homes where adults with developmental di

sabilities could truly call their own.

     Brad’s wish has finally come true.

     Brad joined two others in moving into their new homes at Cottage Bend, with the rest preparing to move in after the Open House on August 13^th.

     The choices that come with living in your own home may seem like small, everyday decisions. For Brad, they represent something much bigger: freedom, independence and having a place to truly call home.

     When Life Quest first dreamed of what is now Cottage Bend nearly two years ago, Brad was the first person we thought of—the first person we knew could embrace this new life. After all the moving. After all the different places. After years of waiting, Brad is finally home.

     These homes are so much more than buildings. They are places where people can make choices, build memories, welcome friends and family, and live life on their own terms.
