Roger's Story

Roger will be one of the six people to move into the new homes once construction is complete, and he couldn’t be more excited. “I can’t wait to have my own house and garden,” Roger shared.
Roger has been a special part of the North Kimball House family since moving to Mitchell in 2015. He has always been willing to lend a helping hand—even mowing the yard whenever it needed attention! Originally from Grinnell, Iowa, Roger grew up on his family’s farm. When asked what he’s looking forward to most about his new home, Roger smiled and said, “Sitting in my recliner in my new house and being able to welcome my family through my own front door.”
Roger has worked for many years at County Fair Food Store, where he enjoys bagging groceries and visiting with customers. In fact, he has said more than once that retirement isn’t in his plans anytime soon!

At the end of this month, the first three people are scheduled to move into their new homes. To help everyone settle in comfortably, the remaining three people will move in during mid-August. Be on the lookout for an invitation to our Open House and Ribbon Cutting celebration, planned for mid-August!

Another piece of news is that we have created a new name for the entire village – introducing Cottage Bend! While each home has its own name, we needed a shorter name for the entire complex. Cottage Bend represents a turning point in life's journey. It will be a place where the roads bend toward new opportunities, greater independence, meaningful connections, and a place to call home.
